A character from the anime One Punch Man, named Garou, is a martial arts prodigy, faced with defeating the strongest hero and main character of the show, Saitama. Near the end of the series, Garou is faced by another martial arts master, who can read the supposed ‘genius’s’ moves like a book. As a final move in the face of potential defeat, Garou copies the fighting style of another hero mentioned earlier, Watchdog. Using this fighting style, he is able to surprise his opponent to briefly gain the upper hand, even if he continues to lose the fight in the end.

In the NBC crime fiction show, Hannibal, a character is featured in the second season as an antagonist serial killer against Special Agent, Will Graham. The character, Randall Tier, is a therian figure who struggles with species dysphoria, worsened by his schizophrenia. To combat his struggles, he built a suit to wear during his killings, mimicking the body and mannerisms of a prehistoric Cave Bear. These habits included doing quadrobics, hunting and stalking his victims, and utilizing his suit’s claws and teeth as weapons.
A scripted conversion between detective Jack Crawford and Randall’s former psychiatrist, Hannibal Lecter:
HL: “Animals are far more like humans than we ever realized, and humans are far more like animals. One thin barrier between us.”
JC: “And for some, that barrier is far too thin.
Hello Dr Lecter.
How does something like this present?”
HL: “Someone affected by this kind of species dysphoria typically has other conditions. Mood disorders, clinical depression, schizophrenia.”
JC: “Typically?”
HL: “They may not present at all.
Your killer could have built a bridge between who he appears to be and what he now knows he's become.”
JC: “He didn't build a bridge, doctor. He built a suit.”
